Project Overview
Cyprus aims to join the EHDS to utilize health data effectively for both primary and secondary purposes, aligning with the EU's objectives. The National eHealth Authority (NeHA) will serve as the HDAB, leveraging direct funding to enhance digital capabilities and collaborate with HealthData@EU. Together with partners, Cyprus will address legal, governance, and technical aspects to facilitate secondary use of health data, promoting better policy-making, research, and innovation. The ultimate goal is to improve healthcare services, emphasizing prevention and early diagnosis, contributing to a stronger European Health Union through interoperable health data exchange involving all Member States.

Implementation
Cyprus will establish a robust national management structure aligned with EHDS regulations to facilitate cross-border health data use. Active participation in European HealthData@EU governance will ensure compliance, while targeted awareness campaigns and comprehensive training initiatives will empower stakeholders. Performance monitoring and evaluation will assess digital business capabilities, with sustainability plans in place. Implementing a Data Access Applications Management solution and a national Health Dataset Catalogue will enable seamless data processing and discovery. Security measures, including a secure processing environment, will safeguard electronic health data, while connecting to HealthData@EU infrastructure will enable cross-border workflows and enhance data quality and support for data holders.

Compliance
The project further undertakes evaluations in the context of EEHRxF and EHDS Regulation proposal, with input from the eHMSEG. This includes assessing telemedicine, mobile health, and other health software. Additionally, evaluations focus on common EHR requirements for electronic identification of health professionals and patients based on the European Digital Identity framework, along with the necessary metadata layer.
